About Lisa

I graduated from the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2006, where I received diplomas in both Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I also received a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the University of Beijing for my studies and hospital practicums completed in China. I have been practicing as a licensed acupuncturist in Calgary since 2006.

My deep study and appreciation of acupuncture and herbal medicine as the Chinese have developed over many centuries, also led me to discover how other cultures have developed acupuncture in their own unique way. I discovered that German and French medical doctors have been practicing their own system of Auricular Acupuncture (Ear Acupuncture), which they developed independently of the Chinese system. I was greatly impressed with what an effective tool for assessment and treatment the ear was using the European system. This led me to study with Dr. Beatte Strittmatter, the Chief Instructor of the German Academy of Acupuncture, which led me to the CIAM (Canadian Institute of Auricular Medicine http://canadianauricular.ca/), where I completed my Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Certification, and for whom I am currently an instructor.

Through my journey of medicine, I witnessed the healing processes of many, and realized the true meaning of Holistic. To be whole. I observed that the physical and emotional are indeed so entangled, that they cannot be separated. I studied counseling for years, based in Transactional Analysis. I experienced that when people own their emotional processes and actively work on themselves, the physical responds on a deep level. I feel that my role is to support what is needed in the physical body while helping people connect to and understand what needs attention and healing in the emotional. I believe that is true medicine.

During my own personal journey of healing, I have been studying with Mark (Seva) Terrell (http://www.authormarkterrell.com/) since 2003. Attending his workshops and using the tools in his books, I have been repeatedly stunned at the deep transformation that occurs. I have integrated many of his meditations and healing processes into the acupuncture sessions.
